THE GREAT ONE 2000-2023

Kind. Wonderful. Loving. True gentleman. Presence. Natural. Giving. Gentle giant. The King.

Wow Factor.

These are the words used by Kathy Tobin and Jim and Deanna Searles to describe the late, legendary Allocate Your Assets, fondly known as “Al.” The 4-time Congress Champion and AQHA Reserve World Champion, 16.2 Bay AQHA Stallion was by Protect Your Assets and out of Katt Sass.

Purchased from Brian Isbell as a two-year-old, Al was owned by Jerry and Kathy Tobin for 21 of his 23 years. After a successful show career in AQHA and NSBA, earning over $27,000, AQHA Superior titles in Open and Amateur Hunter Under Saddle and an AQHA Reserve Championship in Sr. Hunter Under Saddle with Sue Ellen Kaven in the irons, Al started his illustrious sire career. Ron and the late June Warren are to thank for handling the beginning of his history making breeding career. Those foals gave Al his Million Dollar Sire status, with $1,653,013.50 earned by his foals in AQHA Hunter Under Saddle alone, with $101,036.94 in other events. Even though his book was limited, his offspring have earned over 28,481 AQHA points across disciplines.

“Al stamped his foals with great minds and movement that served several disciplines from the Under Saddle classes, to Over Fences Classes, to the Pleasure Driving classes, and even Western Riding classes,” says Kathy. “He has had World and Reserve World Champions in each of these classes in multiple breeds of horses.”

Kathy reveals their gratefulness for all the mare owners, foal owners, and those who exhibited them for their trust and belief in Al. “I’d like to thank my husband, Jerry, for his support of Al; even this last World show, Jerry was in the stands watching the Als show and texting me how they did!” She also thanks Jim and Deanna Searles; Deanna for showing him and his foals, and Jim as the stallion manager–both of whom promoted him with their words and incredible showing and handling of Al. Kathy would also like to thank her sister, Susie Johns, “without whom we never would have known about him.” Kathy says, “Al will be missed more than mere words can say. Al, we miss you so much in our hearts and minds. You will be, forever, our favorite boy!
