SUN CIRCUIT GIVES TO
AMERICA’S HORSE CARES
AGAIN!
The Arizona Sun Circuit continues its
dedication to the equine industry, Arizona and handicapped riders with it
recent donation of ten thousand ($10,000) to America’s Horse Cares, a
division of the AQHA Foundation. The Sun Circuit is the largest equine
circuit in the nation. The Sun Circuit will enter its 34th year
at the upcoming show this January. The show dates are January 26-February 3,
2007 at WestWorld in Scottsdale.
America’s Horse Cares is dedicated to creating an
ongoing funding base to support special-needs children, individuals and
organizations who benefit from equine experience. Peggy Kimes explained that
any North American Handicapped Riding Association (NARHA) affiliate may
apply for a grant through the AQHA Foundation. There are guidelines that are
followed for each grant applicant and a committee decides the distribution
of funds. Last year there were over 600 applicants. Now that Arizona has its
capitol funding of $50,000, the entire gift from the 2005 Sun Circuit will
be dedicated strictly to handicapped riding facilities in Arizona.
America’s Horse Cares was the brainchild of AQHA
Foundation members Peggy Kimes and Becky Dunning. Previously the divisions
for donation to the AQHA Foundation were: AQHF Youth Scholarship, Racing
Scholarship, Equine Research, and Education Outreach. Thanks to the insight
of Peggy and Becky, the AQHA Foundation now has a division dedicated to the
special needs of equine enthusiasts. Peggy Kimes and Becky Dunning are
currently Co-Chairman of the AQHA Foundation Cabinet Committee on Awareness.
The Sun Circuit, Sun Circuit Oversight Committee and
the AzQHA are proud to once again donate $10,000 to America’s Horse Cares
for the second year running.
